Stand up shower

Nafty would actually be able to stretch out and relax in this cast iron soaking tub.  I like the cast iron because it holds the heat........

Floor tile design for the master bathroom

Love this double sink idea for the master bath and the pedestal sink for the first floor powder room!

Love the idea of turning an old dresser into a bathroom vanity! Want to do this in the second floor guest bathroom...

I plan to refinish the existing claw foot tub. I love these traditional style black and white floor tiles which are consistent with the 1920s period of the house. Instead of the white wood wainscoting I plan to use a simple white ceramic subway tile to the same height.  I want to find a vintage dresser and install a white porcelain vessel sink with marble top. So simple and serene looking (and also pretty economical)........

The Hearthstone Clydesdale wood burning fireplace insert. This is the one I plan to use with the living room fireplace.  The two flues have an interconnecting hole in them so the fireplace inspector said we cant use them but an insert like this with stove piping will be fine. This non-catalytic wood insert heats up to 2000 square feet and it has a soapstone interior so it holds the heat well.  Looks pretty warm and cozy to me.

this old house.......

This old house.....

Well we did it! Our offer was accepted for a charming (if somewhat derelict!) 1920s three season, cottage/house in need of lots of TLC. It is situated on 7.2 beautiful acres of lawn with mature trees (2.2 acres) and another 5 acres of woods and trails. As they say in Italian it will require 'molto lavaro' or much work and certainly 'molto lira'! We have loved the property since we first saw it 30 years ago and it's within walking distance of where we currently live.  I plan to blog about our adventures in restoration and hopefully in a few months we will be living in our beautiful new home.
